the paradox of distance.
I knew you when you were small
I was there for every step and every fall
We told stories until the sun dawned on us
We forgot to abide by time and mistakenly danced with our id until the moon became the star
When you moved
I was sure the rain envied our tears
We promised to stay in touch
Said though we are an ocean apart we knew this is simultaneously the closest we will possibly be to each other
We sustained our friendship
By way of instant text messaging, email, and international postal mail
Until one day I logged in and saw that you had a familyvvvvv
And I looked back at our instant texting message and emails and realized
It has been over seven years since we spoke.
I blinked and broke our promise.
So in the end
The closest we will possibly be to each other is simultaneously the furthest we have been to each other.
This is the paradox of the distance between us
And the promise we made that stretched too thin for the naked eye.
